Auto A/C & Heating Services

Are you wishing that your vehicle's heat or air conditioning was as efficient as it was when you first purchased it? Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 can get your vehicle's heating or A/C back to its original state, so you can drive in comfort.

Heating and AC systems may break eventually with usage, and hose pipes may clog and drip if not serviced, causing reduced efficiency heating and cooling capabilities. We can fix any problems you're experiencing and provide the regular maintenance necessary to keep your heating and A/C system operating at full performance!

Indications your A/C system may be having issues:

  • If your air conditioning blows only slightly cooler air compared to the exterior air
  • Air that blows in smells damp, musty, or like mildew and mold
  • Your cabin does not warm up in cold weather, or is just a little warmer than outside
  • The defroster takes longer than typical to operate, or does not operate
  • Your heater or A/C only functions when driving, not when idling, or quits blowing when the car is stationary
  • Your heating system blows cold air, or the air conditioning blows warm air
  • Low airflow even at the highest fan setting.

A comprehensive evaluation of heating and A/C system includes:

  • Examining the internal controls and blower
  • Checking radiator coolant operating temperature, hoses, pressure radiator cap and thermostat
  • Inspecting the compressor belt
  • Inspecting system and seals for leaks or various other damages
  • A cooling system pressure test
  • Verifying the A/C pressure meets manufacturer specifications
  • Measuring the interior vent air temperature

Coolant System Flush
A car's air conditioning system contains a coolant which transfers excess heat from one part of the engine and finally loses it through the radiator fins. With time, the a/c coolant becomes old and dirty. The old coolant will negatively impact the system's performance. To make sure the system is working effectively, consider having a regular coolant system flush. A coolant flush is basic maintenance for your car's cooling system. Call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 for all your coolant system flush and fill needs. Ensure maximum performance from your vehicle's heating and cooling systems today.

Water Pump & Thermostat replacement

Belts
A fan belt, also known as a drive belt, is a belt connecting your car's engine to the front mounted accessories. The fan belt rotates the water pump and engine fan, which maintains a cool environment for the engine and its components. Sooner or later, your vehicle's fan belts will dry out and crack. When you are ready for a replacement you can count on Al's Certified Auto Repair for all your vehicle's repair needs.

You not only have to get the belts replaced with quality ones but you should have the work done by experts. To have the belts replaced by auto cooling and heating experts - and get your car driving right - visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. The mechanics at Al's Certified Auto Repair will thoroughly inspect your car's belts; replace all worn belts; and adjust the installed belts.

Hoses
Hoses transfer coolant and antifreeze throughout the engine's cooling system (including the radiator). Sooner or later, your vehicle's hoses will dry out and crack. When you are ready for a replacement you can count on Al's Certified Auto Repair for all your vehicle's repair needs.

You not only have to get the hoses replaced with quality ones but you should have the work done by experts. To have the hoses replaced by auto cooling and heating experts - and get your car driving right - visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. The mechanics at Al's Certified Auto Repair will thoroughly inspect your car's hoses; replace all worn hoses; and adjust the installed hoses.

Radiators
If your engine overheats, your vehicle will not work properly. The antifreeze (coolant), water pump, radiator, radiator fan and other components have the responsibility of keeping your engine cool. If any of these things has a problem, your engine could overheat and cause severe damage - not to mention leave you stranded on the side of the road.

The radiator is where it all happens. The radiator is the heat transfer device. It holds the coolant, which circulates through the engine to help keep it cooled down. Specifically, the coolant will go through the engine where it picks up heat while the engine is running. The coolant is then pushed through the radiator; where air flowing across the fins in the radiator removes heat and cools the antifreeze and helps to keep the engine cool. At times, problems can arise within the cooling system, while sediment, deposit and corrosion can form and settle in the radiator. This normally happens when the coolant isn't replaced and flushed when needed. This will eventually lead to issues such as leaks, blockages and improper cooling of the engine. When this occurs, you will need a radiator repair to restore its proper function.
With more than 75 years of combined experience, the AAA-approved, ASE-Certified technicians at Al's Certified Auto Repair are ready to take a look at your radiator and diagnose the exact problem. Don't hesitate to call us.

Radiator Flush
A radiator is the part of your vehicle that keeps the engine cool and protects it from excessive heating. To be cool, the radiator needs to remain clean - always. With time, sludge, rust and other solid deposits build up inside your car's radiator. These make the cooling system become clogged and less effective. This in effect hurts your vehicle's performance. A regular radiator flush is enough to keep the system in shape. For this reason, make radiator flushing a part of your routine car maintenance schedule. For all your radiator flush needs, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today.

Referred to Al's from my extended warranty. Drove an hour over from the coast. Excellent customer service!!! Truly accommodating and customer oriented at the front desk. Al himself was even there. I appreciate an owner on premises, it says so much for the company. The boys behind the wall had my car fixed fast. Best of both worlds. I would recommend them any day.

...I was stranded in Augusta with a nonfunctional vehicle and a large bag of perishable groceries, in 90-degree heat. After stowing my groceries in his refrigerator, Al figured out a game plan for fitting my car into the repair schedule AND getting me home. Then he and his wife DELIVERED my repaired car the next evening after they closed the shop, as I had no way to get back to Augusta to pick it up. His prices were in line with other garages, but the service/attention was unlike anything I have ever experienced. From now on, Al's is my go-to for auto repair. They will treat you well!!!

  • -Neil S.

Al went the extra mile to help us out. He stayed late and made sure we had a safe vehicle to drive. His employees were very courteous and did such a good job. I highly recommend Al's Certified Auto Repair because they do a great job and they are great people.

  • -Howard J.

The Al's Certified Auto Repair is one of the most largehearted group of people I have ever met. Along our route for the Hemmings Great Race 2018 they kept the doors open to make sure our car was running the way it was made in 1952. We were experiencing a handful of issues all of which were quickly diagnosed, resolved and tested. It's places like this that really remind myself and our team that good people still exist. We come from New York City and Connecticut where you'd be lucky if someone stuck around late or even took the care to look for other issues. I would highly recommend Al's to anyone in need of auto repair.

  • -Keith K.

I knew they couldn't fit me in right away, but was pleased that they worked with me. Within an hour they had it diagnosed and called with an estimate...They kept me informed, squeezed me in, and very professionally took care of me. I met the owner Al, What a great guy!...Al's Certified went above and beyond, and the prices were VERY reasonable...Thanks to your team for taking such good care of a stranger. I can only imagine how good they take of their regular customers!
