If it's snowing outside, you need to know that you can hop into your vehicle and face the day without fear of sliding around or losing control. If you do not have the correct tires on your vehicle, snow and ice can present problems on the road. Simply driving from your neighborhood to your child's snowboarding class, basketball games, or maybe New Year's festivities could be a very scary ride.
Al's Certified Auto Repair offers a variety of quality tires for your vehicle for all seasons, including snow tires and studded snow tires. Our team will help you choose the right tires for your needs and see that they fit properly on your vehicle. When it comes to winter, snow tires are different from traditional tires because they are more pliable and provide you with better traction. REMEMBER STUDDED SNOWS CAN GO ON YOUR VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 1 AND MUST BE OFF BY MAY 1.
Whether you need summer tires, high performance tires, low profile tires, big truck tires or snow tires, our tire experts can help you sort through all of the options so that you make the best decision for your vehicle. In the state of Maine, when there is only 2/32 inch of tread left on a tire, it is deemed unsafe for the road; however when a tire has only 4/32 of tread, hydroplaning can occur at speeds as low as half that of new tires (instead of hydroplaning at 70 MPH, it might be as little as 35 MPH). Consider your tires long before they fail completely.
We offer these services to help you prolong the life of your tires.
An incorrectly repaired tire could pose a safety hazard to you and your passengers. At Al's Certified Auto Repair, our tire experts will determine whether your tires are able to be repaired, or if they need to be replaced. If the tires are repairable, our certified technicians will make sure they are repaired correctly and get you back on the road.
Do you fight against your steering wheel? Is it tilted to one side, or does your vehicle constantly pull in one direction or the other? Have you ever driven down the road and let go of the wheel (we do not recommend letting go of the steering wheel), only to find your vehicle quickly heading toward the guardrail? If so, there's a problem with your wheel alignment and it needs to be corrected.
When driving, your vehicle should roll straight ahead with little help from the steering wheel. If you notice any pulling, or if you have to try to keep the vehicle straight, then it's time for a repair. While you may want to simply ignore the problem and come back to it later, a wheel alignment issue can place unnecessary stress on your vehicle's suspension, steering and tires. Your driving experience should be pleasant, and you should not have to worry about a possible accident because of wheel alignment problems, especially when you have children in the car.
Tire rotation is the practice of moving the wheels and tires of an automobile from one position to another, to ensure even tire wear, which extends the useful life of a set of tires. Rotation is important because each tire on a car carries a different amount of weight, making them wear at different rates. By rotating them, you basically even out those differences. Your owner's manual will tell you how often to rotate your tires, but as a rule of thumb, it should be done every 5,000 to 8,000 miles.
It is recommended that tires, including the spare, be periodically inspected by a tire service professional during routine maintenance intervals such as oil changes and tire rotations. We will inspect the tire tread and sidewalls for irregular tread wear, cracking, scrapes, bulges, cuts, snags, foreign objects or other damage resulting from use. We will remove any stones, glass, foreign objects, etc. embedded in the tread to prevent further damage. Even minor damage can lead to further injury and eventual tire failure. Tires with excessive cracking on the tread or sidewall(s) should be removed from service. This is typically caused by under inflation, over loading, improper storage, and/or improper long-term parking.
If you feel excessive vibration in the car, or wobbling of the steering wheel, your tires may be unbalanced. Al's Certified Auto Repair has the professional equipment and technicians to measure the balance of your vehicle's tires and make necessary corrections. Call us at 207-622-4747 if you have questions, or contact us so we can evaluate your tires.
We Offer Most Major Brands of Tires
At Al's Certified Auto Repair, we understand that tires are an important part of your car. The quality of tires and material used on them highly affects the vehicle's performance. Their main purpose is to protect the wheel's rims and improve vehicle performance. For this reason, we only deal with brand name tires. Also, we offer fleet tire management services to ensure you are getting the best value, fuel economy, and life from your tires.
At Al's Certified Auto Repair, we want you to be comfortable in your vehicle, while knowing that you are always safe. When you purchase new tires from us, you cannot just place them on your car without a mount and balance. So when you purchase tires, of course we mount and balance them. When you purchase a set of four tires we offer you a half-price alignment, and we will rotate your tires for free for as long as you own them. (Tires must be mounted on the same vehicle as they were originally installed. Customer must still be the registered owner of the vehicle that the tires were installed on, and the tires must be in good working order.)
Our AAA-approved, ASE-Certified technicians will properly mount and balance your new set of tires. This helps to ensure the tires will roll down the road smoothly while minimizing wear.
Don't let the winter weather stop you from driving - or any other weather for that matter. Come by our shop today to learn more about all the tires we sell and those best for your vehicle.>

It means a lot to me to have found someone who is honest & cares about what the customer feels. As I told you, I was taken advantage of more than once because of what I didn't know. You took the time to explain the problem without giving me a lot of double talk.
Thank you for helping a home sick heart heavy gal. I'm sorry I haven't been able to send this sooner, but my husband has taken a turn for the worse. Thank you once again.
I just wanted to express my thanks for all your help & advice the other day. You really went above & beyond for me & I really appreciate it! Your kindness is greatly appreciated & I couldn't be happier with you as my mechanic!
I moved here in 1977 and soon connected with you as the guru in Hondaville! Thanks for doing excellent work on my and everyone's cars! Otherwise, why would I drive 70+ miles to have my car lovingly and professionally cared for? Thanks again!
Thanks for the 10 years of service and advice! Your honesty, integrity, and excellent customer service are priceless!

Just a note to say thank you to you and your wonderful people for helping me keep my old Jeep on the road. Peter and I are so appreciative for all you do. We know we can always count on you to find the problem and fix it. Again, Al, thanks.
Referred to Al's from my extended warranty. Drove an hour over from the coast. Excellent customer service!!! Truly accommodating and customer oriented at the front desk. Al himself was even there. I appreciate an owner on premises, it says so much for the company. The boys behind the wall had my car fixed fast. Best of both worlds. I would recommend them any day.
Thanks for the great service. I am so glad I found you guys last year. Always a pleasure dealing with John. The service is great. The mechanics are knowledgeable. Great customer service. Thanks to all. See you again I am sure!
Al's C.A.R. is great. My car broke down and they got me in for repair immediately. Every step of the process was clearly explained, and the work done was impeccable too. Highly recommend.
...I was stranded in Augusta with a nonfunctional vehicle and a large bag of perishable groceries, in 90-degree heat. After stowing my groceries in his refrigerator, Al figured out a game plan for fitting my car into the repair schedule AND getting me home. Then he and his wife DELIVERED my repaired car the next evening after they closed the shop, as I had no way to get back to Augusta to pick it up. His prices were in line with other garages, but the service/attention was unlike anything I have ever experienced. From now on, Al's is my go-to for auto repair. They will treat you well!!!
Al went the extra mile to help us out. He stayed late and made sure we had a safe vehicle to drive. His employees were very courteous and did such a good job. I highly recommend Al's Certified Auto Repair because they do a great job and they are great people.
The Al's Certified Auto Repair is one of the most largehearted group of people I have ever met. Along our route for the Hemmings Great Race 2018 they kept the doors open to make sure our car was running the way it was made in 1952. We were experiencing a handful of issues all of which were quickly diagnosed, resolved and tested. It's places like this that really remind myself and our team that good people still exist. We come from New York City and Connecticut where you'd be lucky if someone stuck around late or even took the care to look for other issues. I would highly recommend Al's to anyone in need of auto repair.
...Unfortunately while traveling, my Yukon experienced a lack of power. I googled auto repair in Augusta and found ACAR. I knew they couldn't fit me in right away, but was pleased that they worked with me. Within an hour they had it diagnosed and called with an estimate...They kept me informed, squeezed me in, and very professionally took care of me. I met the owner Al, What a great guy!...Al's Certified went above and beyond, and the prices were VERY reasonable...Thanks to your team for taking such good care of a stranger. I can only imagine how good they take of their regular customers!
Al's helped us out in a pinch by keeping us motoring safely and happily. Great customer service, knowledge and professionalism. He stayed late and took the extra steps to make sure everything was right before we left. Can't say enough about how he was able to solve several issues quickly and permanently. Thank you!
Went to Al's a while back. Needed some help. They were great to work with. Very friendly and helpful, explained everything to me. They have a great warranty, which was really nice. The shop is nice, clean, and inviting. Got to talk to Al himself, what a great guy! I was very satisfied with my visit. If I lived closer I would come back every time. Thanks guys!
