Did you know that regularly changing the oil in your vehicle is one of the simplest, most effective and inexpensive ways to help protect its engine life? Oil lessens wear, reduces friction, and forms a seal between the pistons, rings, and cylinder walls. The oil also helps cool engine parts and even dampens the shock and noise of moving parts. For all your oil change needs, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. We have years of experience helping drivers with oil changes and other auto maintenance needs.
Motor Oil Basics
Do you know the oil basics? Did you know that even some auto mechanics do not know the oil basics? In order for your car's engine to do its job properly, it is vital to have clean, fresh oil. The oil used in your car has two primary ingredients: base oil and additives. The base oil allows the motor oil to perform its vital function - lubricating the engine's moving parts to protect them against wear and tear caused by friction. The additives provide additional engine protection by helping to prevent the oil from deteriorating under the engine's extreme temperature conditions. At Al's Certified Auto Repair, we are motor oil experts - we will help you with motor oil basics. Call us at 207-622-4747 or visit our auto repair shop in Augusta, ME 04330 today.
A fan belt, also known as a drive belt, is a belt connecting your car's engine to the front mounted accessories. The fan belt rotates the water pump and engine fan, which maintains a cool environment for the engine and its components. Sooner or later, your vehicle's fan belts will dry out and crack. When you are ready for a replacement you can count on Al's Certified Auto Repair for all your vehicle's repair needs.
You not only have to get the belts replaced with quality ones but you should have the work done by experts. To have the belts replaced by auto cooling and heating experts - and get your car driving right - visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. The mechanics at Al's Certified Auto Repair will thoroughly inspect your car's belts; replace all worn belts; and adjust the installed belts.
Hoses transfer coolant and antifreeze throughout the engine's cooling system (including the radiator). Sooner or later, your vehicle's hoses will dry out and crack. When you are ready for a replacement you can count on Al's Certified Auto Repair for all your vehicle's repair needs.
You not only have to get the hoses replaced with quality ones but you should have the work done by experts. To have the hoses replaced by auto cooling and heating experts - and get your car driving right - visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. The mechanics at Al's Certified Auto Repair will thoroughly inspect your car's hoses; replace all worn hoses; and adjust the installed hoses.
Headlight and Bulb Replacement
To maintain maximum visibility (and keep you safe), you should always make sure that your vehicle's headlight bulbs are in good working condition. Although replacing faulty headlight bulbs is a simple and quick process (takes very little time), you need to rely on an experienced auto mechanic to handle your headlight and bulb replacement. This way, you will have quality bulbs installed by experts. Remember, it is a critical part of your car's maintenance and your safety. For all your headlight and bulb replacement needs, call or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today.
Wiper Blade Replacement
Visibility is very important to safe driving. Having properly functioning wipers can help keep you safer on the road. If your car's wipers are not wiping well or are leaving lines, have them replaced immediately. To have wiper blades fitted on your vehicle, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. We will fit your car with high quality and effective wiper blades.
PCV Valve Change
The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is a very important part of some cars' emissions control systems. This valve, which is usually plugged into a rubber grommet in the valve cover, is a one-way passage for gases to escape from the engine's crankcase. With time, the PCV valve becomes clogged with sludge from the contaminants in the exhaust gases. If your car has a PCV valve, make sure it is regularly cleaned and (if necessary) replaced. To have your car's PCV valve changed by experts, call or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 today.
To keep your truck maintained and problem free, call or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today. We are here to keep you and your truck on the road.
Fuel Injection Cleaning
A fuel injector is an electronically controlled valve that supplies the engine with pressurized fuel. When driving, the oxygen sensors tell the engine if it is getting too much air, which signals the fuel injectors to give the engine spurts of pressurized fuel. Since fuel injectors are small pieces of equipment (and the part that squirts the fuel is even smaller), any little piece of dirt can clog it. A clogged fuel injector will hurt your vehicle's performance. To avoid misfires, poor emission rating, poor performance, and rough idle have the car's fuel injectors cleaned regularly. For professional fuel injection cleaning services, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today.
Just like replacing your engine oil, transmission service is part of your routine vehicle maintenance. The service involves removing and examining the pan, cleaning or replacing the screen or filter, cleaning the pan, reinstalling the pan (with a new pan gasket), replacing the old oil with new, and adding an additive package. Adding new fluid restores the holding power between the clutches. This service helps improve lubrication and helps maximize the life of the transmission. For all your transmission repair needs, visit or call Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 today. We offer transmission services, reseal services, and clutch services.
Transmission Fluid Exchange
Although most manufacturers recommend a transmission fluid exchange every 30,000 miles or every two years, some symptoms may indicate that you need a transmission fluid exchange sooner. Some of the symptoms that indicate that your car needs a transmission fluid exchange sooner are: transmission grinding or strange noises, problems shifting gears, slipping gears, surging of the car, and delay in vehicle movement. Exchanging the used fluid from the transmission washes away tiny particles of dirt, clutch material, and metal shavings. For all your transmission fluid exchange needs, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today - we are transmission experts.
Transmission Fluid Exchange & Filter
Transmission fluid exchange and filter change is a comprehensive transmission maintenance service that involves the replacement of old, degraded transmission fluid and filter with new. The service is meant to prolong the life of your transmission. At Al's Certified Auto Repair, we offer the most comprehensive transmission fluid exchange and filter service. We will exchange your old transmission oil, remove dirt, replace the filter, clean the screen, and replace used pans. Give us a call at 207-622-4747 or visit our auto shop in Augusta, ME 04330.
A radiator is the part of your vehicle that keeps the engine cool and protects it from excessive heating. To be cool, the radiator needs to remain clean - always. With time, sludge, rust and other solid deposits build up inside your car's radiator. These make the cooling system become clogged and less effective. This in effect hurts your vehicle's performance. A regular radiator flush is enough to keep the system in shape. For this reason, make radiator flushing a part of your routine car maintenance schedule. For all your radiator flush needs, call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today.
Coolant System Flush
A car's air conditioning system contains a coolant which transfers excess heat from one part of the engine and finally loses it through the radiator fins. With time, the a/c coolant becomes old and dirty. The old coolant will negatively impact the system's performance. To make sure the system is working effectively, consider having a regular coolant system flush. A coolant flush is basic maintenance for your car's cooling system. Call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 for all your coolant system flush and fill needs. Ensure maximum performance from your vehicle's heating and cooling systems today.
Brake System Flush
Brake fluid is hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture). The absorbed moisture lowers the fluid's boiling point. It also corrodes the lines and cylinders. With the lowered boiling point, the brake fluid could boil during braking which makes you lose braking ability. Although this is an extreme scenario, it does happen in heavy braking. To reduce the effects of the absorbed moisture, auto manufacturers recommend that you have a brake flush done periodically. A brake system flush involves the replacement of used and contaminated fluid with fresh fluid. With Al's Certified Auto Repair's quick lube services, you will have a brake system flush performed by brake experts. Call 207-622-4747 or visit Al's Certified Auto Repair today.
The differential is a car part that compensates for the difference in travel distance between the inner wheels and outer wheels when the vehicle is turning. Due to the differential's position in most non-four-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicles (located at the rear and under the car), it does not get any of the star treatment the engine gets. The one thing that every car owner needs to know is that failure of the differential will mean failure of the car. To save the differential from failure, you need to have differential fluid changed every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Changing the oil on the differential is as important as changing the car's engine oil. Although checking and changing differential oil is pretty easy, you need to visit an auto shop to get a comprehensive differential flush. For differential flush services, visit or call Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, ME 04330 today.
Power Steering Flush
As you control the steering wheel of your vehicle, other components under the hood help you to do this with ease. If your power steering goes out, or there's a lack of steering fluid, you will quickly find it very difficult to steer your car.
If your steering is very hard to turn, or you are hearing a growling noise when you turn the steering wheel, you may very well need power steering repair. Having a steering problem while traveling with the children can be a frustrating and scary.
Before the issue gets worse, the team at Al's Certified Auto Repair is ready to diagnose the problem. We offer quality steering repairs - from power steering rack replacement to power steering fluid flushes, and everything in between - by our team of AAA-approved, ASE-Certified technicians.

Thank you so much for getting the paint off of my car. That was so nice of you and you have no idea how much it meant to me! Thanks again!
Thank you for all your kindness. The truck is fine. Thank you for your help it was truly a blessing. I pray that God will bless you back for all your help.
It means a lot to me to have found someone who is honest & cares about what the customer feels. As I told you, I was taken advantage of more than once because of what I didn't know. You took the time to explain the problem without giving me a lot of double talk.
Thank you for helping a home sick heart heavy gal. I'm sorry I haven't been able to send this sooner, but my husband has taken a turn for the worse. Thank you once again.
I just wanted to express my thanks for all your help & advice the other day. You really went above & beyond for me & I really appreciate it! Your kindness is greatly appreciated & I couldn't be happier with you as my mechanic!
I moved here in 1977 and soon connected with you as the guru in Hondaville! Thanks for doing excellent work on my and everyone's cars! Otherwise, why would I drive 70+ miles to have my car lovingly and professionally cared for? Thanks again!
Thanks for the 10 years of service and advice! Your honesty, integrity, and excellent customer service are priceless!

Just a note to say thank you to you and your wonderful people for helping me keep my old Jeep on the road. Peter and I are so appreciative for all you do. We know we can always count on you to find the problem and fix it. Again, Al, thanks.
Referred to Al's from my extended warranty. Drove an hour over from the coast. Excellent customer service!!! Truly accommodating and customer oriented at the front desk. Al himself was even there. I appreciate an owner on premises, it says so much for the company. The boys behind the wall had my car fixed fast. Best of both worlds. I would recommend them any day.
Thanks for the great service. I am so glad I found you guys last year. Always a pleasure dealing with John. The service is great. The mechanics are knowledgeable. Great customer service. Thanks to all. See you again I am sure!
Al's C.A.R. is great. My car broke down and they got me in for repair immediately. Every step of the process was clearly explained, and the work done was impeccable too. Highly recommend.
...I was stranded in Augusta with a nonfunctional vehicle and a large bag of perishable groceries, in 90-degree heat. After stowing my groceries in his refrigerator, Al figured out a game plan for fitting my car into the repair schedule AND getting me home. Then he and his wife DELIVERED my repaired car the next evening after they closed the shop, as I had no way to get back to Augusta to pick it up. His prices were in line with other garages, but the service/attention was unlike anything I have ever experienced. From now on, Al's is my go-to for auto repair. They will treat you well!!!
Al went the extra mile to help us out. He stayed late and made sure we had a safe vehicle to drive. His employees were very courteous and did such a good job. I highly recommend Al's Certified Auto Repair because they do a great job and they are great people.
The Al's Certified Auto Repair is one of the most largehearted group of people I have ever met. Along our route for the Hemmings Great Race 2018 they kept the doors open to make sure our car was running the way it was made in 1952. We were experiencing a handful of issues all of which were quickly diagnosed, resolved and tested. It's places like this that really remind myself and our team that good people still exist. We come from New York City and Connecticut where you'd be lucky if someone stuck around late or even took the care to look for other issues. I would highly recommend Al's to anyone in need of auto repair.
...Unfortunately while traveling, my Yukon experienced a lack of power. I googled auto repair in Augusta and found ACAR. I knew they couldn't fit me in right away, but was pleased that they worked with me. Within an hour they had it diagnosed and called with an estimate...They kept me informed, squeezed me in, and very professionally took care of me. I met the owner Al, What a great guy!...Al's Certified went above and beyond, and the prices were VERY reasonable...Thanks to your team for taking such good care of a stranger. I can only imagine how good they take of their regular customers!
Al's helped us out in a pinch by keeping us motoring safely and happily. Great customer service, knowledge and professionalism. He stayed late and took the extra steps to make sure everything was right before we left. Can't say enough about how he was able to solve several issues quickly and permanently. Thank you!
Went to Al's a while back. Needed some help. They were great to work with. Very friendly and helpful, explained everything to me. They have a great warranty, which was really nice. The shop is nice, clean, and inviting. Got to talk to Al himself, what a great guy! I was very satisfied with my visit. If I lived closer I would come back every time. Thanks guys!
Wonderful service. Friendly, professional, quick.
